Augusta: Better than New York? With the Augusta Players

Augusta: Better than New York? With the Augusta Players

September 12, 2019

This week we got to talk to Scott and Russell Joel Brown, who are major "players" in the Augusta Players! (AugustaPlayers.org). They both had totally separate and impressive national acting careers - including Russell Joel Brown actually being on Broadway! - and in Scott's case, a national production career as well. Hear what two guys that have seen it all have to say, and about how Augusta is becoming a central location for theater!

They have a new production coming out soon - Ragtime! - and it's going to be accompanied by something that the city may have not seen since the 20s! What is it? Only Drop Disgusta can tell you...

We also got to try a BRAND NEW, UNNAMED beer from a new brewery coming to Augusta (WHAT?!?) - Yes, it's true. We even got to suggest some names for it (I hope they stick).

This week we got a chance to talk to almost-local Nancy Hohlwein (she's from right outside of town!) about the crazy path her career has taken from Augusta University to politics to real estate and to working with Deke Copenhaver in the All in Augusta project.

Nancy is super interesting and came prepared with the information you've been wanting to know. Who is investing in Augusta? How many different regions do we have? There have been HOW MANY properties changing hands in Augusta this year? She has your answers folks.

As always we are Powered by Amplified Events, but this week we also recorded AT Amplified Events! Definitely check them out @AmplifiedEventsAug & AmpYourEvent.com

This week we got to talk to Aaron Snow, our local Yelp representative! We've all heard the stereotypes about Yelp and its reviewers, time to find the truth from the source! Is Yelp good for local? We've got the scoop...

With some Savannah River Brewery beers, we feel like we're going into August on a strong note. Definitely check our social media for updates on future guests.

We would like to thank PowerServe for letting us use one of their offices as a studio. We would also like to thank Amplified Events for powering our Sound Make-Over. Both of these sponsors were invaluable to making this episode possible!

We were so honored to have former Mayor and current Man of Many Hats, Deke Copenhaver on our show this week! He published a book just this past May called "The Changemaker," which has reached an international audience. He chairs the All In Augusta Fundraising Campaign <<AllInAugusta.Com>>, which raises money towards developing downtown. He runs Copenhaver Consulting, which helps locals in any industry improve their business or nonprofit.

We would like to thank the CVB (Convention & Visitor's Bureau) & Bennish Brown, though he could not be with us for the interview, for having us this week! It's so beautiful on every level (literally, we were on the third floor).

Our drink of the week is whiskey, so watch out for that!

Finally, we'd like to welcome Erin Talent, our new Digital Marketer to the Drop Disgusta Team! She took some great pictures and videos this week, and we couldn't be more excited to have on board. She's quite the Talent!
